From conversation to building

This project is part of Claude's Hard Questions initiative.

At our Claude Conversation on July 22, San Diego sat with one question: Who decides the rules? We talked about what it means for our community, what we could do about it, and what's in the way. Now we build.

The Claude Impact Lab is a build evening where we make our own local answer to that question. Real teams, a real problem pulled from our conversation, and working prototypes by the end of the event.

Our focus is transparency and accountability.

Why this theme

AI rules are not only laws. They are also product defaults, procurement requirements, model policies, workplace procedures, moderation systems, and appeal processes. This sprint asks participants to make those rules visible, contestable, and open to public input.

The brief

Tonight's goal

Create a working prototype that helps address the regulation, transparency, and accountability in and around how AI is used and governed.

To submit a project, you need a working proof of concept and a Claude Artifact as your initial demo piece for the community.

The community will vote on projects, and the top five will fully demo their proof of concept for everyone.

There are no formal judging criteria. The community will be the judge.

Please do not publish your first commit until we say so at the event.
